The Power Within

ANY psychologist will tell you that, “when one is truly ready for something, it usually “makes” an appearance.” Adopt a definite purpose, and stand by that purpose until it becomes an all- consuming obsession!

Often opportunity comes disguised in the form of misfortune to temporary defeat. How many times have you not quit your great idea because of the latter?

Could it be that you have not heard of the saying that more gold has been mined from the brains of men than has ever been taken from the earth. When faced with defeat the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit.

By doing so, you logically join and take comfort in the majority. Don’t be fooled by the song of the losers, “After all, I am not the first one, neither am I the last”.

A century old survey shows that the majority of successful people the world has known achieved their greatest success just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them.

Always remember that failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one up when success is almost within reach.

Don’t believe The Villager, what could have become of Jesus Christ had he fallen for tricks of the magician Satan at Mount Nebo. The Villager bet you that we would even not know that He existed. History does not recognize failure.

The Villager despises one of the weaknesses of mankind which is the love of the word ‘impossible.’ The world knows all the things that cannot be done and all the rules that will not work. The only way to escape it, is to become success conscious and you will forever be successful.

The largest charitable foundation was created by a business person, Bill Gates. And you still believe that business people are greedy?

Those who are greedy are those who quit three feet before they hit gold. The worse ones are those who failed to act on their ideas. No wonder the richest place on earth is the cemetery.

Many of them took with them stunning ideas to their graves. That explains why ghosts are found in what is supposed to be a resting place.

They are restless for they want to come back and implement what they failed to implement and what they failed to do on earth. Such rebellious nature is not tolerated in a resting and quite place like the cemetery.

Implement all your ideas or else there is no resting place for you on earth. All those who have accumulated great fortunes first did a certain amount of dreaming, hoping, wishing, desiring and planning before they acquired wealth.

Who has ever achieved anything great without a dream? If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never EVER see them in your bank balance. Clearly, nothing comes without a price.

You have to get to be a practical dreamer. And bear in mind that success requires no apologies, failure permits no alibis. After all, failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.

The world has become accustomed to new discoveries. Indeed it has shown a willingness to reward the dreamer who gives the world a new idea.

The Villager has no problem with people promising to bring him down. As they spend time on the negative side of life while he spends time trying to find solutions to turn people like them into positive beings.

The truth is: people like them are needed in every society. Life would be boring if there was no day and night. And even those who live near the North Pole can attest to you that longer hours of the day are not the best human being can desire for.

The difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it is vast. You are not ready for something until you believe you can acquire it. The state of mind must believe not mere hope or wish.

Open-mindedness is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage or belief. Remember, no more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty. This universal truth has been captured by a poet in this poem:

I bargained with Life for a penny.
And Life would pay no more.
However, I begged at evening.
When, I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages.
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire.
Only to learn dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.

Clearly your limitation is what you (be it individual or community) set up in your mind. How do you explain this? A young man armed with a desire to make a difference in his village of birth set-off from Windhoek living behind a hefty salary.

He puts up a vegetable garden. His community supported him big time. He collected cow dung from every household in the vicinity. His project grew into a profitable venture. That is a serious crime he committed. It became a curse.

The villagers see it differently. All of a sudden their cows are no longer productive enough. As he “musutelo wa hindanga cho lala ne nombe ze tu chi ka si zali” (he sleeps with our cows). Therefore no more cow dung from their kraals. He is a witch.

The only solution, no more supply of the much needed natural nutrients (cow dung) to the vegetable project. End result, the young man’s life is shuttered. The biggest loser? The community itself. They denied themselves development and fresh vegetables. Next thing, epangelo na li tale po nawa opo, (government is ignoring development in our region.) Hold it.

Development starts with an idea by a villager in a village. The young man was providing the seed for development. Instead of encouraging many other young people to emulate the same, you kill him. In that way you call on the government to bring water closer. Before you know it, electricity.

The next thing no more imports of fresh produce. Desire backed by faith, knows no such word as impossible. It pushes reasoning aside. Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.

The young man is now a successful fresh produce producer in the triangle area. There is nothing, right or wrong, which belief plus burning desire cannot make real.

These qualities are free like oxygen to everyone including, my favorite –YOU-the reader.

Register this in your kop (head). Every success is a result of a well positioned mental condition. In other words, it all starts from within. Nature has provided us all sorts of clues. For a wound to heal, no matter how hard they stitch you, it heals from inside first. Any gym fanatic will tell you that you do not build muscles in the gym.

You build them at home (outside the gym). Equally, your success will be determined by what you do after 5 pm when you are with yourself. That will determine how your tomorrow will be.

But remember, everything comes with time. And you know what? The more effort you put into something, the earlier you will achieve it. Even the holy book put this more clearly.

A child who keeps on knocking on his father’s bedroom will get a reward for persisting (the father will eventually open the door). But don’t get disheartened if the door takes long to be opened, because this will benefit your character. If The Villager was a religious entrepreneur (pastor), he would have told you to go and read Romans 5 verses 1 to 5. The Villager believes though that every effort one puts in will be rewarded in the long-run.

Don’t quit. Believe in yourself and remember that in this meal, the meal we are eating under this tree in this village, those who spoil this soup are not hungry at all. Be like a postage stamp, stick to the envelop until you get there, and as you become successful, you will need a great deal of self discipline, so that you will not lose your sense of balance, humility and commitment. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. Anything destructing you, take it out of your way. PF
