The objectives of Namibia Business School (NBS) are to emphasise the key role that good leadership and management plays in competition, growth and productivity. As such, NBS aspires to be the “Centre of Excellence” in professional management education through its Doctorate in Business Administration, Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Executive Education and International Consultancy programmes.
Programmes at Namibia Business School, enable participants to transform their personal commitment into public leadership. Academic programmes consist of a variety of subjects, concerning the fundamental and topical aspects of business practice. NBS is committed to working in partnership with both public and private sectors with a view to contributing towards capacity building. We believe that well-trained personnel will help to promote good governance and good management in our country.
Namibia Business School (NBS) has been established in response to the needs of the Namibian market. The School started through humble beginnings in 1999, when the University of Namibia (UNAM) entered into a collaboration agreement with Maastricht School of Management (MsM) in The Netherlands, to offer an Executive MBA Programme at UNAM. The programme registered its first 31 students in 2000 - following the success of the 1st cohort, the programme grew exponentially. To date, close to 250 students have graduated through this programme.
First National Bank (FNB) had the vision and commitment to financially support the programme from the outset. This commitment from FNB is ongoing and has translated into FNB being one of the founders of NBS, joined by the Bank of Namibia, NamDeb and the O&L Group of Companies and UNAM.
Namibia Business School was officially launched on 30 October 2008 by H.E. President H. Pohamba, assisted by H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding President and Chancellor of the University of Namibia.
The School’s vision is simple in that “We envisage ourselves as a world-class African institution at the cutting-edge of management education, research, consulting and related services.”
That clear vision informs our mission which is:
