The 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie is one of our favourite pickup trucks for the year. We arrived upon this judgement based on our 30-minute test drive of the Ram 1500.
The truck is a class leader with its exclusive diesel engine, good fuel economy and a smooth car-like ride.
The 2014 Ram 1500 comes with a 5.7 litre HEMI V8 engine that makes reasonable power and is great for anyone who plans to do lots of towing and hauling.
The eight-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly and helps maximize fuel economy. The Ram 1500’s unique rear suspension gives it one of the most comfortable rides in the class.
We also like its optional air suspension, which makes the Ram 1500’s ride more comfortable and keeps the truck stable while towing.
With plenty of high-end materials, solid construction and overall quietness, the 2014 Ram 1500 has one of the best cabins in the class.
The leather seats are long-haul comfortable with heating and cooling systems in its dual zone automatic temperature control.
The Ram has a voice-activated Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) infotainment system with Bluetooth and an 8.4-inch touch screen with optional Navigation system and nine amplified speakers. It also has a front and rare park distance control feature.
The scaled-down big-rig look and 20 inch chrome-clad aluminium wheels make it easy to spot the Ram 1500 from a distance. The headlamps have a bi-functional halogen projector with LED running lamps, turn signals, side-marker lamps, and premium LED tail lamps.
The most impressive of all features is the remote keyless start and entry that enables you to start the engine while standing outside.
In terms of safety, there is no room for worry as standard safety equipment includes front side thorax airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, as well as electronic traction and stability control.
It goes without saying that this is a must have as the year inches forward. PF
